We don’t always see the structure underneath renovations, or the work that goes into each project of the renovations. The past few weeks, and still going forward, work on the floor and elevator access in Acker Hall continues. Here, workers mark height with a level string to jackhammer concrete to a straight line. A different view of this area after that work was done, from the “tunnel” doorway toward Acker Hall, shows that the steps are gone to allow for a new ramp. Under the old ramp, a corrugated panel was discovered covering utility supply. This work will assure “a firm foundation.”
This view is from the old storage area behind the stage, showing where the Elevette used to be; this is where the new elevator will open to Acker level. The big orange digger is where the action is happening outside that elevator opening.
