Your Missions and Social Ministry Dollars at Work
Your donations last year were at work in carrying out the mission statement of PHLC: "Share Christ + Serve Others." To date, more than $13,000 has been sent to Mission Central to support missionaries in Cambodia, Indonesia, Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Uganda, and the Dominican Republic. Four missionaries and families visited PHLC this year. Lutheran Bible Translators received $1,000 to support translators in Ghana. Lutherans in Medical Missions received $500. Social Ministry funds of $1,000 were sent to Lutheran Family Services, Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, Siena-Francis House, and inCommon Community Development. Over $4,000 in Yahweh Funds and Hy-Vee gift cards assisted with emergency needs for members and others in the community.
Your food donations helped the Project Hope food pantry feed the hungry, and PHLC's donation of $1,000 helped refill their shelves in November. Special drives this year collected a trunk load of diapers/baby supplies for Essential Pregnancy Services, beverages and winter items/socks for Omaha homeless shelters, and 75 pounds of personal care items, sent to Operation: Care and Comfort to meet the needs of those in the military. The Board thanks you for your generosity and welcomes your input regarding future disbursements of funds, and projects. The Missions and Social Ministry Board is seeking additional members.
